At least 17 people, including women and children, were killed by Abu Sayyaf gunmen in southern Philippines on Monday. The militants attacked two vans carrying civilians who were travelling to visit relatives and celebrate the end of the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan, military officials said, according to an Associated Press report.
